We foster community relations
for sustainable development

At AME we understand sustainability as an essential part of the business: we can and should develop our activities in harmony with the environment and communities, contributing to local development.

Continuous dialogue is our primary tool for this purpose, allowing us to understand the socio-cultural aspects of the territories where we are present and operating and incorporate them into our management.

Our commitment is to promote projects that consider the best industry practices and technologies to protect both the environment and our communities.

Our community contribution has four lines of action:

Education, innovation
and employability

  • Educational program on renewable energy and visits to Santiago Solar.
  • Support for Fundación Enseña Chile’s summer school in the communes of Renca and Puente Alto, with the participation of 800 children and 121 future teachers.

Care and improvement
of the environment

  • Workshops with schools and community groups on permaculture, composting and greenhouses in the communities near Santiago Solar.
  • Application of soil restoration techniques to enhance water retention at the Santiago Solar reforestation site.
  • Installation of photovoltaic panels in homes in Quillagua, Antofagasta Region.

Quality of life
and culture

  • I work with members of the Indigenous Group in Quillagua for the development of archaeological studies in the Sol del Loa project.
  • Generadora Metropolitana was a sponsor of Andes de Renca High School in the Inter-school Athletics Competition.
  • Santiago Solar provides community transport to improve connectivity for residents of the Los Aromos sector of the Til Til commune.

Care and improvement
of the environment

  • Santiago Solar has build a tree nursery to propagate the native trees required for the reforestation project of 150 hectares of native forest. This nursery employs people from the community, most of them women, who have been trained for this work.
